A change in perspective

a change in perspective
                                                         A change in perspective
will change a sunshine filled hour
into a melting, hot, and unbearable eternity.

A change in perspective
will change a meadow of flowers
into a plot of weeds.

A change in perspective
will change a barren wasteland
into a field of opportunity.

A change in perspective
will change a bleak, dark room
into a place of sweet rest.

A change in perspective
is all anyone needs
so go and change.
Make flowers out of weeds.

inspired by Phillip Kenneth Starck

I love the change in aerial perspective in these photos. The Eiffel Tower stands 1,063 ft tall, about the same height as an 81 story building. My daughter Emily and I went to Paris for a week to celebrate her college graduation. She took these photos and I put them up along with some others in our laundry room at home.

Did you know that  95% of the thoughts you have today you will also have tomorrow?

That is, unless you change your  thoughts or have a change in perspective.
Many of our thoughts are healthy ones.  Many of our attitudes are healthy ones. Some are not.

Which ones are not healthy for you?

One of the reasons I love yoga and Qi Gong so much is that they quiet the mind and allow for more clear thinking. This can be powerful. When your mind is clear, all kinds of good wisdom will percolate up.

I'm taking a Qi Gong Teachers Certification from Lee Holden, a Qi Gong Master. Part of the training involves self-study. From our workbook here are a few sentences that charmed me today.

"It's important to remember that health isn't a destination, but a journey. We don't arrive at health and then stop; rather, it's an ongoing process where you are either getting healthier and livelier, or less healthy and innervated. When we look at health from this perspective, it's a lot more exciting."

I'm very healthy. I eat well (I believe nutrition is the foundation for our health). I exercise to keep blood pumping to my almost 60 year old brain [YIKES], to my endocrine glands, to my heart and all of my teeny, tiny cells. I sleep well (with the help of sublingual Melatonin and a calming hot bath), I have lots of love in my life (my darling husband, my children, my grandchildren, lots of wonderful women who I greatly admire, etc. ). I learn something new every day and grow as a human being. I have compassion for others. I have recently learned how to look at what brings me pain and not struggle against it any longer. But, I know I haven't arrived at being healthy. I know I can't stop. Every day scientist learn something new about how to be healthier. It's a process and I think it's exciting.

Instead of thinking - "I have got to get healthy right now," think - "I'm going to go on a journey to strive for health and well-being. I may take a few detours, I may change a habit that I thought was good for me to another that is better. I'm not planning to arrive, I'm planning to explore and learn and be a little healthier every single day."

It is truly a process.

Have a great weekend!

Namaste,

Donna Rae
